Raise your hand if you love Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, the book by Bill Martin, Jr! I am imagining if you have children, your hand is up! The sing-songy rhyming in this book does an amazing job of taking kids through the alphabet in a way that they want to hear over and over again, especially if you’re my daughter and you like everything on repeat. (Imagine me with the exhausted mom face as you read that, please.)
Since we are gearing up for summer in our house, I am looking for all the ways my kids can stay engaged, continue learning and have some fun. Enter: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Alphabet Sensory Bin.
You can easily make your own! You will just need a few items that you may already have around your house. If not, you can easily find them via my best friend, Amazon Prime. (Sorry, real life friends, she just gets me.)
You will need:
- The Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Book, if you don’t already have it
- Sand
- Alphabet Magnets
- Coconut Trees
- Sterlite Container
Once you have all of your supplies, simply fill your bin with sand, add your trees and alphabet letters, and encourage your kids to play while recognizing letters, uppercase and lowercase, and colors.
It’s fun to read the book along with play time! Stick the lid on and easily stash it away for next time!
