In our house, it’s the battle of celsius vs coffee. My husband is the celsius lover and I am the coffee drinker. I don’t know about you, but coffee is a must have in my morning routine. Whether you live an active lifestyle and you want to choose a healthier option for your caffeine, or you are just curious what the difference is between the two, I have the answers for you!
Celsius vs Coffee: What’s the difference?
Celsius Drinks are Higher in Caffeine
Celsius drinks have a way higher amount of caffeine than coffee. In fact, it takes about two cups of coffee to give you the caffeine intake that a celsius drink will give you. The average cup of coffee will give you around 75 mg of caffeine, and a Celsius drink is packed full with 200 mg. So, if you are looking for a drink with a high caffeine content that will give you the energy boost needed to get you through that work day, Celsius is a better option.
Stinky Breath
Celcius wins in the stinky breath department. Since Celsius energy drinks don’t make your breath stink like coffee does, they get a clear point for that one.
My Favorite Coffee
The first time I tried Charleston Coffee Roaster’s coffee was last summer while visiting my sister in Johnson City, TN and I loved it. I bought extra while we were there because I had never seen it before, and then I realized I could get it on Amazon, score!

Celsius Comes in Different Flavors
I actually do like some of the celsius flavors. When I drink it, I like these two:
Celsius vs Coffee: Potential Benefits of Each
There are tons of health benefits to drinking both Celsius and black coffee. If you are following a healthy diet, you will want to steer away from adding certain creamers to your coffee because they make the sugar content way too high, which can give you negative side effects.
Benefits of Coffee (if you don’t put too much sugar with additional ingredients like added creamers, etc)
- Boosts energy levels
- Improves physical performance
- Can lower risk of diabetes
- Can reduce risk of cancer
- Can aid in weight loss
- Very beneficial for your liver
Benefits of Celsius
- Help to accelerate your metabolism
- Aids in burning body fat
- Rich in antioxidants: vitamin C, riboflavin, guarana, green tea extract, ginger extract
- If you are going to buy an energy drink, Celsius is a healthier option compared to other ones on the market and great for those with active lifestyles.
- Naturally caffeinated and sweetened with stevia/Erythritol, so it does not contain any artificial sweeteners like a lot of other energy drinks contain.
Potential Risks of Celsius vs Coffee
Risks of Drinking Coffee
If you are going to be consuming coffee or large amounts of caffeine in general, make sure that you stay hydrated with water as well to try to avoid any adverse effects from happening. It is also best for your overall health to try to consume a minimal amount of calories, and loading your coffee up with cream and added sugar can cause other health issues like weight gain. Although there are good alternatives to energy drinks, like Celsius, it is still not recommended to drink a ton of caffeine every day.
Below are some potential risks of drinking both coffee and Celsius-
Some potential risks of drinking coffee are:
- Restlessness and shakiness
- Insomnia
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Fast heart rate
- Dehydration
- Anxiety
Risks of Drinking Celsius
- Dehydration
- High blood pressure
- Irregular heartbeat
- Insomnia
- Anxiety
Celsius vs Coffee for Pregnant Women
Pregnant women can consume 200mg or less of caffeine per day. Doctors recommend that they stay away from energy drinks because they generally contain high levels of caffeine and other stimulants, and they may cause stress, high blood pressure, and a high heart rate. Sticking to two cups of black coffee is a good choice for pregnant women to avoid negative effects from occurring. Of course, consult your doctor, I am not one to give medical advice!
Other Caffeinated Beverage Options
- Brewed black tea
- Matcha
- Zest Energy Tea
- Soda (be careful consuming too much soda because of the high sugar and calories)
Celsius vs Cofffee: The Winner
Both Celsius and coffee are sources of caffeine, but like everything in life, moderation is key. The best part about Celsius is all the benefits from the vitamins, and coffee offers a lot of potential health benefits, like helping to fight certain diseases. So the winner is… I’ll let you decide for yourself!
