As a homeschool mom, I am always looking for new, creative ways for my kids to learn. It’s always my goal to keep learning fun, and that is why I was so excited about TinkerActive Workbooks. The folks who created these workbooks really understand the power of play for learning.

TinkerActive Workbooks come in two subjects: Math and Science. They also have three different levels for each subject: Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and Second Grade. And, there are English workbooks coming soon! I am so excited to check those out!

I love the flow of these workbooks. They cover essential math, science and problem-solving lessons. Then for each lesson, it moves into related hands-on tinkering, making, and engineering activities. All of the tinkering and making activities use household items that you probably already have hanging around your house. I absolutely love how these books strongly encourage learning through play.

One of the things I love most about TinkerActive Workbooks is that they take into account all types of learners: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. And then there’s the MotMots, who are cheerful and funny characters who basically guide kids through the book from start to finish.

We have been loving all of the fun ideas spread throughout these workbooks. For example, after learning about weather, we made our own in-door snow. For my Florida-kids, this is a huge deal. And for me, it is too because it was easy and they played with it forever.

We have a very well-rounded curriculum that we are following for Kai’s 1st Grade year. Even with that though, I am always looking for the perfect supplements to our curriculum. TinkerActive Workbooks are an amazing supplement to any curriculum or at-home study. Even if you don’t homeschool, these workbooks are perfect to keep kids learning at home while having fun! (Note: They follow Common Core Standards.)

Pairing curriculum-based exercises with interactive tinkering, making, and engineering projects really drives home each lesson and helps kids learn (and remember what they’ve learned). Just this morning, as I write this, my kids are playing with their homemade flutes they made after learning about length and measurements.

I’m really thankful that we were able to try TinkerActive Workbooks, and make them part of our learning this year. I’m now sure I will use them to make our learning fun for years to come.

I would highly recommend these workbooks for anyone looking to really drive home those fundamental math and science skills in a fun, interactive way. And even if you have a strong math and science plan already, the super creative Tinker and Making ideas in these books alone make them well worth purchasing in my opinion!
