If you want to know how to make your two year old smile like this while eating tons of spinach, read on my friend – these magic spinach smoothie bowls are your secret weapon.
I am always looking for new ways to pump those green veggies into my children, and truthfully they are mostly pretty good about eating them. But this baby lady is my picky one.
Enter: Smoothie Bowls. There are so many variations that you can try, they taste like ice cream, are easy to make, and can be secretly packed full of good stuff (like spinach in this case).
You can even let your kids make them with you, I’ve noticed that increases the chances of them eating basically anything I make. ‘Cause ya know, it has to be good if THEY made it themselves.
We just happened to have left-over pineapple from a large one we cut a few days ago, and I picked up a few kiwis and restocked our spinach supply which inspired us to try these.
Use this as a base to inspire you, and use up whatever you have around your house to make some smoothie bowls for the family!
1 medium size banana, sliced & frozen for at least 30 minutes
2 cups frozen chopped spinach
1/2 cup fresh pineapple cubes
1/2 cup coconut water
2 small kiwis, peeled & chopped
2 tbsp hempseed
Pinch of salt
2 tsp chopped fresh ginger, optional
1/2 tsp raw honey, optional
Coconut chips, hempseeds, or any other topping you want!
Freeze banana slices for at least 30 minutes or up to 1 day.
Combine banana, spinach, pineapple, coconut water, kiwis, hempseed, salt and honey in a blender (add the ginger too if you are using that). Blend until smooth. If it gets too thick add a little coconut water as needed and continue blending until smooth.
Divide into bowls & top with desired toppings.
