The sauce guys, it’s the sauce AND I think I like this even better than a cheeseburger because the flour tortilla gets crispy on the outside and it’s thin so there’s not too much bread. So good!

Tips for the Best Smashed Burger Tacos

  • Use a flap top: Using a flat-top like this one below gives you room to cook at least 3 at a time. I use mine for so many things! You could try to cook these in a regular pan, but you would have to cook them one at a time.
  • Make the sauce ahead of time: You can even make the sauce 1-3 days in advance if you want to! I suggest making it at least a little earlier in the day so it has time to get nice and cold and let the flavors meld together well. It’s so good!
  • Don’t be tempted to flip too soon: Let them cook 2-3 minutes before you flip, then immediately add cheese so it can melt while the tortilla gets crispy.

Storing & Reheating Smashed Burger Tacos

Another one of my favorite things about smashed burger tacos is that they reheat well! I just popped mine in the toaster oven to warm them back up and then added toppings and bam, lunch the next day or dinner two nights in a row!

Viral Smashed Burger Tacos

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 8 taco sized flour tortillas
  • 8 slices white American cheddar or your favorite cheese
  • Toppings: shredded lettuce, chopped white onion, dill pickle chips, diced tomato

BURGER SAUCE

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp mustard
  • 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp diced bread & butter pickles
  • 1 tbsp pickle juice
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Combine all the sauce ingredients and refrigerate until time to eat.
  • Separate the beef into 2 1/2 ounce balls. Roll each ball in salt and pepper or just sprinkle them to taste. Place on a plate in the fridge while you preheat your flaptop.
  • Preheat flattop on high. You don’t need to grease it.
  • Place each ball on the hot flat top and set a tortilla on top. Use a spatula to smash it down as flat as possible.
  • Let them cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Once browned and crisp, flip and let cook about 2 more minutes. Top with cheese, which will melt as the tortillas crisp.
  • Remove and add burger sauce and toppings, then eat up!
