With summer vacation quickly approaching, it is a good idea to have a list of words for your kids’ summer vocabulary! Below I am giving my fellow parents a list of summer words that start with E, so when it is summer season, you are already set to go.
Summertime as a kid for me meant playing with my siblings in green grass, eating fresh pies and fresh produce, and spending long days in the sun. Independence Day was always one of the long days that we got to sit outside with our bare feet and eat hot dogs with friends and family. The rest of the world didn’t matter to us on during the endless summer, it was just us and our block party! There are so many different ways to spend your days during this time of year, and it is always exciting as a kid when summer break is in session!
As a momma of 3, I know that even in the summertime, we can really engage with our children and use the warm weather and great outdoors to teach our kids new words. Another fun spin on summer words that you can do is to use this opportunity to teach them some Spanish words. I have added Spanish words to this list as well so you can have some fun with it, depending on the age of your kiddos. So, let’s teach our kids some of these fun words while also having a great time, maybe even over a bowl of ice cream or fresh fruit! Of course, we will also have those lazy days where we sit in our lawn chair on the hot pavement and get tan lines. It is all about balance, right?!
In my family, we are suckers for a fun game night, and those seem to be more often during the summer months. Some fun games that you can incorporate during your next family game night are word games which will really open their minds and help them learn new vocabulary. My kids really love Scrabble, Hangman, Bananagrams, and Boggle. So, next time you sit down for a family game night, or maybe if you are having a lazy day during the summer holidays, pull out one of these fun word scramble games! It is a great way to not only have fun with your family but also teach your kids some near-descriptive words that they can start using.
